Cool Ies Lights (web)
Hi guys,
Do you know a website where I can download the 'COMMON' IES lights and self-illuminating objects (e.g. fluorescents). The ones I have are too complicated I don't know which is right for my scene.

You can go to a lot of lighting companies and download IES files that pertain to certain light fixtures. Marius pointed out the main one. Here are some other light companies that supply ies files.

Once I've got an ies file how do I add it to my content browser or tool palette? Been trying to figure out how to do this for a while now and just can't find an answer, I must be missing something simple?

Thanks
Tom

Tom, you have to click on lights, change it from standard to photometric, place a light into the scene, click on properties, and under intensity change distribution to web. Then under web parameters click on web file and add your IES file. Hope that helps

Thanks Patryk,

Once I've done that do you know how I can get it into a tool catalog in the content browser?

Oh, I misunderstood your question Tom. I use max and I think contest browser is only in Viz. So probably somebody else has to help with that.
